Introduction
In 2010 the CRAB lab expanded to incorporate the EVAL lab and is now jointly led by Professors Keith Downing and Pauline Haddow.
The projects of CRAB lab are varied but unified by a general focus on individual-based, bottom-up and evolutionary techniques for investigating the emergence of complex, robust and/or adaptive systems, whether natural or artificial (in hardware or software).
Many existing and newer bio-inspired techniques are investigated, with much focus given to that of Artificial Neural Networks and Artificial Development. Solutions sought include electronics, art and systems biology as well as investigation into today and tomorrow's computation mediums.
Various biological phenomena are investigated, including the mechanisms of neuroscience, artificial development and cell signal transduction.
